I grew up in California but have spent my adult life in London, with a pit stop along the way in Washington D.C. My parents named me Dana, pronounced Day-na. Since arriving in the U.K. over a decade ago, people have been calling me Dana, pronounced Donna. I like to think it provides me with versatility.
I’m not an animal person, although I feel deeply about the importance of biodiversity. I am a city girl at heart who cares greatly about nature, but spends very little time actually in it. I love fashion, food, travel, and my family, but realize that many of the choices I gave made pursing these interests have come at a great cost to our environment. It doesn’t need to be that way. In short, I am not your standard environmentalist, but I would like to think that the definition of an environmentalist can be wide. Reducing CO2 and other greenhouse gasses is at the core. As long as we continue to call earth home, we all need to be thoughtful about the role we play on this planet because whether we like it or not, climate change will affect us all.
Why the title, A Decision A Day? Despite the blog’s name, I do not intend to post an idea every day. Rather, the name gets to the heart of the challenge I have posed to myself. To evaluate my life and make a decision every day with the intent to have a positive impact on climate change. I believe that most of the people I know would make better decisions in regard to climate change too, if only the choices were clearer. In the words of Maya Angelou, “when you know better, you do better.” As adults, it is estimated that we make 35,000 decisions every day. Why not dedicate one decision, no matter how small, to something that will have a positive impact on climate change?
I will do my best to research the choices I put forward so that they have a clear positive impact with the least number of unintended consequences. If you have a blog post idea, feedback, information to share, or simply want to connect, you can reach me at email@example.com.
By day, I work with a team of insightful analysts who write about decarbonisation strategies across entire industries. By night, I post to this blog, sharing resources from the public domain. All opinions are my own and do not represent my employer.
